Thames Estuary Sunrise

After the recent, relentless wind we’ve had today was quite an unexpected change. I wasn’t going to bother going out for sunrise but made a last minute dash to Two Tree Island and was very glad I did. It was beautifully clear with a hint of low mist and as calm as I can remember seeing it, with the only bird sounds, which carried from afar, breaking the silence. Once the sun had risen and most of the colour had gone out of the sky I stood on the end of the slipway, moving down as the tide went out, photographing any birds that flew nearby with the sun now warming my back. Absolutely magical.

I wasn’t sure which one to choose as the main, but both look better large.
