Park Life
Despite the BBC Weather App forecasting heavy snow showers with strong winds A& I set out at midday to walk via the long ginnnel down to Chapeltown, around Potternewton Park then home via the chip shop on Harrogate Road.
Today the Bowling Green in Potternewton Park was buzzing with action as different matches criss-crossed the green. The bowlers were well-wrapped up against the cold breeze, while overhead threatening skies moved by. Their small club house, even with Covid restrictions lifted, would be a tight squeeze for all 15-20 players to take shelter had the forecast heavy snow showers come.
We quickly moved on now being exposed to the cold pesky wind. I was already feeling overdressed in raincoat and Rab jacket before we took a sharp steep climb up the Roxburghs as a short cut. We continued uphill on St Georges Avenue to Chapel Allerton, battling against a gusty breeze all the while. I was feeling hot, bothered and grumpy by the time we cut through the Old Cemetery onto Harrogate Road. Thankfully My knee ligaments have (just) recovered from their arduous hill climb a fortnight ago but I found todays exercise difficult in other ways and not enjoyable!
