Amazing Doorway
I've lived in Bristol for over 35 years, and I've been photographing it for 14 years. But every once in awhile I notice a lane I've never seen before and wander down it. Today I wandered down Tailors Lane, leading to Tailors Court, where I spotted this amazing doorway.
When I got home I googled it and discovered that this was the building of the Guild of Merchant Taylors. It was built in 1740, replacing a much older building. The head on the left is the severed head of John the Baptist, who was the Patron Saint of the Guild.
