Sparkling

Apparently amaryllis is a Greek girl's name, meaning 'to sparkle".

This one was sparkling against the snow flakes falling outside this afternoon.

When I look at it I'm reminded of certain kind of heavy silk fabric that used to be used a lot in evening wear, back in the day. It looked almost corded, or pleated. It felt wonderful to stroke. Not that I ever plucked up the courage (or the cash) to buy any - my abilities as a dressmaker never quite matched my ambitions ...
