The Bull by Paulus Potter
At the Mauritshuis in Den Haag. My favourite I think. They are celebrating 200 years with "bloemen, bloemen en nog meer bloemen" (see extra). This was another day of "which blip to choose". I chose this paining - The Bull - painted in 1647 by Paulus Potter. It is particularly special because the artist painted an ordinary thing on a grand scale (apparently never done before). Potter paid great attention to the smallest details such as the lark in the sky, the flies on the bull's back and the cow's whiskers.
