Visiting Great Grandma

This morning I took the girls to see mum at the care home. They’re still closed for visits due to the Covid outbreak, but we were able to do a window visit. So basically mum was inside with the window open, snd we were outside. She was thrilled to see us, particularly the girls as she hasn’t seen them since before she went in hospital at the beginning of December.

I was pleased to see her looking so well, and she said our visit had made her feel better. We stayed for about 40 minutes, but the girls were getting cold so we said our goodbyes.

I then drove over to Anglesey as I’d arranged to meet Hugh (aka the squirrel whisperer) at The Dingle nature reserve so the girls could see the red squirrels. As we were walking through the trees we saw a Robin and Hugh told Scarlett to hold her hand out, and he put some bird seed on her hand. The Robin flew down and sat on her hand feeding.

There weren’t as many squirrels as the last time I was there, but we saw a few and Hugh put some nuts on the girls’ shoes, and once the squirrels had eaten all the other nuts, they came and took them off their shoes. Their little faces were a picture!

We stayed for about two hours but the girls were getting cold, and although they didn’t want to leave, I said it was time to go. Typically though, as soon as we stood up and I’d put my camera away there seemed to be a bit more activity, and one squirrel even ran up Scarlett & Violets legs (see my extras).

We’d had a bit of snow this morning and the mountains were white, so on our way back I took a slight detour and drove home through Snowdonia - it looked beautiful!

The girls have thoroughly enjoyed today - more memories made :-)
