Bee Happy

Today is the first day this year that I have ventured outside without a coat. I decided that I would look for flying insects to photograph. This prompted me to hang a lovely wooden beehouse, given to me by a good friend, amongst the ivy on my pergola. It had only been there minutes when it was checked out by a dock shieldbug which stayed to bask. Not long afterwards I shot a lone bee, my first of 2013.

Later in the day I could hear very loud buzzing as I approached a pussy willow. It was smothered in bees. :)

Later still I decided to tog bees in flight, only to find that they had gone home to bed. :(
