Teasel
It was remiss of me not to even to acknowledge the awful events in the Ukraine. Like most, I am at a loss to understand the motives of the Russian President. A bully who is so insecure that he has to amplify his low level of testosterone through violence. It’s the same old, same old, the human race never learns.
A frustrating aspect of all this is being almost powerless to change the course of events. We can help refugees and must do so. Another frustrating aspect is that it is the poorest people in all nations who will suffer, not the rich, their will continue grow at the expense of the suffering of ordinary people.
On a lighter note, we walked up to Detling in fine sunny weather, sitting outside at the Community Store facing the sun, enjoying a coffee. This teasel was from along the walk where we also saw and heard the first skylarks rising and twittering from the vineyards. There were daffodils, snowdrops, celandines, violets and crocuses to be seen. A perfect antidote to the current crisis.
While Susan did her usual clean this afternoon I bashed off a few emails and completed an inventory of the freezer finding, amongst other items, 4 pairs of traditional kippers. After the excitement of all that I went for a run. It felt really good. Tested negative again. Could it have been a false positive? I’m feeling fine and Susan continues to improve. She’s been far worse than me.
