If, for them, the boat lurched
and was tossed high
and thrown about
and they feared they would be
cast overboard,
then, for them, that was true,
though, from our point of view,
no visible storm raged
and the sky was a hazy blue
and when they glided by
all we could see was a calm passage
and an enviable relationship.
