Love is King March

On this cold Portland morning about 100 people gathered on the St. Johns Bridge. We were there to honor and remember MLK’s march across the Pettus Bridge in 1965. Given the murder of June Knightly recently at a gathering at Normandale Park to remember Amir Locke, there was concern about safety. Joann Hardesty spoke after a Gospel Ensemble sang. She mentioned the loss of June, and spoke of love and community. We walked together across the bridge, and some folks continued on to a hike in Forest Park sponsored by Love is King and the Forest Park Conservancy. Kendall in the extra.
