This is the story of how I didn't break my ankle
King Creosote in Glasgow tonight, it was about a year ago when I last seen him live, and how many things have past in that year.
One constant source of comfort has been Kenny Anderson's music, his music lyrically is brutally honest, as a tunesmith he wears his heart on his sleeve, but like any heart that's beat a rhythm of lifes ups and downs you have to listen closely.
Coming on stage tonight on a pair of crutches opening with How I Won My Stripes with a homage to Dylans Homesick Blues, a scroll was revealing that indeed Kenny is a K***
New songs old songs, it doesn't really matter, there was plenty of banter in between songs, there was an improv of how he broke his ankle, even trying to storm off stage two songs in when his microphone wouldn't work, but realising it was futile on crutches. All in the name of entertaining a crowd, singer/songwriters like this are few and far between, there is no pretence, it's about a guy not only supporting his family by writing and recording songs, but but realising he has to support himself too.
I did manage to pass by the merch stall and pick up a new ep and a new album called Sure and Steadfast which he's recorded to raise funds for and support the Scottish Fisheries Museum.
It was a great gig, tender songs, funny banter, good friend and a sense of community reborn.
