A Close Call Today...
..... as a Cooper's Hawk swept down and landed on our patio table where there were four mourning doves. With a flash of feathers they all disappeared leaving a few feathers behind, the hawk flew up to the tall tree next door where there were four squirrels.I grabbed my camera and ran outside but the hawk was already flying off to the nearby woods empty clawed! The crows were cawing and keeping an eye on him in the tall trees bordering the woods. I stood in the garden waiting to see if he might fly back and watched the squirrels hugging the tree. One came down and started to run around my feet looking for peanuts. I threw some out and stayed in the yard but it started to rain harder and I didn't want to get the camera wet, so I went in thinking the rain will hopefully keep the hawk away for a while. This little fellow enjoyed one of the peanuts!
