Solidarity
On Thursday, Russia’s president Putin announced a ‘"special military operation” which lead to a major invasion of Ukraine. Almost universal condemnation from international governments followed, including a range of sanctions, and the entire world is in shock at the unprovoked military attack. As I write, the two sides had agreed to meet somewhere on the Belarus border today. I hope that leads to some kind of swift resolution. Today, crowds gathered in Trafalgar Square - as they did in many other cities around the globe - to stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
I took this photograph - and this - as we walked to a lovely dinner at Brasserie Zédel (onion soup and fish stew) which we decided to have as we were en route to see The West End sings French-Themed Musical Theatre at The Cozy Coqs and a French meal seemed appropriate. It’s hard to comprehend how different life is in another capital city, Kyiv, that’s only 1500 miles away from London.
