In the 19th and 20th centuries Scottish steamer companies and railway companies produced postcards to entice people to use their services to access holiday destinations......main is a David Macbrayne advertising card.. that company had steamships with services on the Clyde and the islands of the Inner and Outer Hebrides... .extra1 show a Caledonian Railway Company card of their pier at Wemyss Bay from where steamers could transport customers by sea to the many piers on the Isle of Bute also to other islands and sea lochs around the Firth of Clyde ....extra2 shows a card advertising daily sails down the Clyde from Glasgow and telling customers to study newspaper adverts and timetables
