The right to citizenship
Big immigration rally today in Washington, ahead of votes by the Congress on policy and legal reforms. The estimated crowd was upwards of 45,000.
I know the Latino vote is huge politically but it was a bit off-putting to me that Spanish was the language of choice for the majority of the stump speeches. I had envisioned this as a rally for Immigration (capital I) not for a particular sub-segment of the world's population. A bit disappointing.
Then again, it might simply have been a case of heat stroke: the temps ranged into the low 90s and after a couple of hours traipsing around in full sun, I thought I was going to pass out. Anyhow, more pix here, if the topic is of interest.
