Not part of the birthday festivities plan...
Mimi's cough that appeared on Friday has gradually worsened and on Sunday she got quite a high fever. Mrs Raheny took her to the GP first thing Monday morning and she was worried about Mimi's heart rate (on the BPM scale it registered somewhere between over caffeinated shrew and red squirrel on coke...)
After a good while spent in Crumlin Children's Hospital (she still qualifies by the skin of her straightened teeth) ED, she was admitted in the Heart Unit for monitoring.
The unit seems to mostly be monitoring patients' sleeping patterns to systematically activate alarms as soon as a patient (or accompanying parent) shows signs of having dosed off.
It's been an interesting night...
Mrs Raheny has been busy working on a number of diagnoses, with outcomes ranging from worse to worser to worserer.
We'll wait until the blood tests come back. Mimi's not getting worse. And she's being carefully monitored.
The one thing that has her really upset is the broken screen on her phone...
Having vanished from Insta since 8pm, her friends must be convinced that she has taken a turn for the worse. For only death (or at the very least coma) can keep a teenager away from her Instagram feed.
