Pancake day

I tried a new recipe, with grated carrot, raisins, and spice. Not bad.
I finished ‘The Midnight Library’ by Matt Haig, enthusiastically recommended by Victoria B. It was good!
D and I finally decided to give up on Raymond Williams’ ‘The Country and the City.’ We are stubborn, but interesting as it was, it’s not for reading aloud, just too hard to follow. Instead we started Emerson’s ‘Self Reliance,’ which I read in high school. I don’t know if American kids still have to read Emerson, but he was part of the canon in my day.
