Shrove Tuesday at the Orchard

We had a gift of a day for our work party at the community orchard. Six of us gathered in the morning to prune trees, improve fencing and generally tidy up while we enjoyed the first sunny day in quite some time.
After a delicious soup lunch, we were joined by the 21 young folk from the local primary school who had come along to help plant some tiny trees which we hope will grow into a pretty hedge around the orchard.
The afternoon was rounded off with mouth-watering pancakes freshly cooked on two camping stoves and accompanied by filling of choice (mine was sugar and lemon juice).
Bertie has slept all evening after his exhausting day. He was the star of the afternoon for the majority of the youngsters and coped very well with his adoring fans.
