Bus Pass Walk
5 Bus Pass Walkers caught the bus to Halifax today to visit the Piece Hall and Halifax Minster. Met up with ValC and MrC at the Piece Hall - lovely to see them both again - it has been too long! Had a look around the Piece Hall and took more photos of the sculptures - interesting to see the objects inserted into the artworks - industrial objects, everyday objects, toys, tools, implements - something to see on every sculpture. Looked around the Sophie Ryder exhibition - besides the animals in metal she does wire work artwork - the hand in the collage being one example. After a coffee it was off to the Minster (collage in extras) - such a stunning building which I haven’t been in for many years. The stained glass windows were beautiful with the sunlight coming through and there were 2 interesting tapestries in the entrance. Lots to see. There were even moveable choir stalls - could have some fun with those! The small shop had some interesting items, including “Holy Socks” - each pack of which included an amusing story. Expensive, but great fun. Also in extras - the sculpture of Anne Lister, now famous through the GentlemanJack TV series, and a small sign in one of the Piece Hall shops which I was assured was something I do frequently! :-0))
