A Mixed Day

Anyone listening to, or watching the news unfold at the moment would find it hard to maintain a sense of happiness and optimism. Despite the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine, these two spinx-like figures sit sedately either side of a doorway on the side of Saltram House. Alternatively they might be a pair of ladies playing a piano duet! In the nearby pond there were a few mating toads and on the duck pond a moorhen was balancing on an overhanging branch. Flapping it's wings and making a series of loud squawks it looked as though it might be trying (unsuccessfully) to attract a potential mate. Spring is in the air for some at least! In the cafe I noticed that an ice cream dispenser that I had walked past many times before was not intended for children as I had previously thought (see extra).
