Today I have written a Book Spine poem as a result of the events since Waitangi Day (06 February 2022). I chose every sixth book on the shelf, and retained the order of titles.

Protest 2022

Ethics and the Limits of Philosophy

to govern the way we live together
are powerless when not shared by all

The Nature of Melancholy

has become obvious
behaviour became removed
from claims to be free

An Absence of Mind

as reason fled from the forecourt

Better

was their call, although
worse were their actions

This Changes Everything

when the manipulators left
the manipulated rioted
and we are not who we were before

Birds

continue to fly
attract my camera, but not today

The Face of Madness

will remain in our mind
for days, weeks, months
