Le Guet

Nice day although it started wet! Best viewed large!!
This blip is taken from Le Guet which is a small pine forest standing about 200ft above sea level, where we sat in the warm sunshine, enjoying the view!
At the top is a small Napoloeonic building LINK which was, I guess, a watchtower. Of course during the war it sprouted lots of 1940 weapon paraphernalia.
The actual building is built on top of a giant pink granite stone and has a granite platform to the North with panoramic views as you can see in this blip!
The sandy beach in the foreground is Cobo bay which is brilliantly clean and sheltered with a lovely hotel, probably the most popular beach in Guernsey.
It also has a chip shop on the sea front so it is quite a popular place in summer for some locals to have fish and chips while they watch the sun set in the west!
It is great fun and children can play happily on the sand at the same time!
8-)
