Knitting
For Christmas my daughter gave me a kit to knit these fingerless mittens. I didn't get them started until about a month ago and had a slight hold-up as I ran out of orange wool before the last few rows of ribbing. The makers sent me a bit extra so I was able to finish them yesterday.
The extra is slightly darker but I'm okay with that, it's hand dyed with local plants, and hand spun. I did feel the top was a bit loose so, since the pic, I ran a thread round the top edge which has made it fit better.
It rained as I headed to the Health Walk but stopped soon after we started.
We didn't have many customers at cafe but the ones we did have made up for it, I'm sure I cooked as much for 3 as I would normally do for 10! If they wanted so much on a busier day I think we'd hae to ration the bacon!
Later in the afternoon Mr Rat took me into town for an eye test as I thought I might get drops and so not be able to drive home. I did need them but was delighted to see lovely retinal photos and no evidence of anything except a very early cataract (which has been there for about 3 yrs and not really progressing). So no new specs and nothing to pay.
