Reds
The reds are in decline and conservation bodies are promoting responsible habitat management and the killing of the rival greys. Conservationists point to the reds narrow range of acceptable wild food sources as one of the reasons for the decline but in my experience they eat almost anything from bread put out for the birds to bird's eggs and even fledglings as well as pine nuts.
In fact, the red squirrels around here will happily pillage the nuts and seeds from the garden birdfeeder and I have even had them in the house on occasion eating Lucy's cat food!
