Aspen

We moved in and the Aspen was already planted.  It's gorgeous, leaves like butterfly wings in summer breezes.  Even it's shadow is beautful. The previous owners planted it a metre away from the house. You shouldn't plant Aspens less than 30m away from house foundations, roots are crazy in terms of upending foundations.  We waited 20 years before we could bear to think about it, but its been threatening to come crashing down in storms and its roots are, well,  very big.....   This will be its last year but we have saplings from it, ready to plant in the forest out back.
