Ancient and Modern
This is the exterior of the new Everyman Cinema in Trinity Centre, Leeds. The 'ancient' part of the title refers to the reflection showing on the right of the main structure. It is of Holy Trinity Church in Boar Lane, central Leeds, situated just outside the main entrance to the Centre, and from which it takes its name. The 'modern' part refers to the rolling screen advertisement on the left of the picture, showing a typically modern little alien / computer game figure.
At the moment and until 28 April, there is a free photographic exhibition of the work of landscape photographer Barry Payling showing in Holy Trinity Church. Although the man himself wasn't present, I was informed that he works exclusively with a Hasselblad film camera (medium format) and Fuji (Velvia slide) film, shunning absolutely both digital and photoshop etc. Much of his work is of Cumbria, the Yorkshire Dales and Wester Ross in Scotland. The examples in the exhibition are outstanding and if you are in to landscape photography, it is well worth whiling away a very inspirational half hour or more.
