Surprise!

Parkrun dawned grey, wet, windy and miserable. I was on finish tokens again, standing on my very own patch of freezing mud.

The fastest person finished in their usual 18–19 minutes. We had a new person in third-to-last place (the two tailwalkers are always last), who was amazing, finishing in under an hour and ten minutes.

I got chatting to her, and I forgot for a while how cold my feet and fingers were. After a while, I realised who she was: none other than Blipfoto’s very own Valerie1940!

She’s the first blipper I’ve met in real life, and it was a pleasure.

Now I’m warming up my feet on Bagpuss and my hands on a cup of tea.
