Conduction!
Another practical investigation today, during which the students had to heat up rods made from different metals to see which were the best and worst conductors. Drawing pins were stuck to the end of each with a blob of petroleum jelly and the idea was that the heat energy would travel along the rods, melt the jelly and the drawing pins would then fall off at different times. No prizes for guessing that copper won!
I've worked flat-out this week to get my new timetable and classes organised - not to mention simultaneously being glued to the news about Ukraine - so am well and truly ready for the weekend!
