Okay, I came across brand new lingo today. I thought I had a good knowledge of various wee dialect nuances across the country and especially in the city I've worked in for the last 13 odd years.

So what do you call the end slices of a sliced loaf of bread? This was asked as we went down to get breakfast this morning and the resounding answer from the two Edinburger natives was 'Heels'. The heels of the bread. I'd never heard that in my life. I've always know them as 'Enders'.

So... What do you call the first and last slice of bread in a loaf?
