Sticky Buds!
When I was in Junior School the teacher brought some twigs in to show us. They were tightly closed and we had to write about the stages of growth.
They were from a Horse Chestnut Tree and I don't know why this memory has remained so fresh in my mind.
It could be because the buds fascinated me - they were sticky and hence I always think of them as 'sticky buds'!
Last year we had to have an ancient Horse Chestnut cut down due to disease but this bud is on a 4 year old sapling grown from one of the conkers.
The squirrels bury them everywhere so l often find them shooting up in the lawn and flower beds! :-)
