Why's that there?

I was bemused why this lone small tree sat in the middle of this large field. It appears in quite a sorry state with much of its bark missing yet the farmer has, for whatever reason, decided to leave it and work round it.

It was nice to see some clods of earth newly turned by the plough. Hopefully we may soon lose the naked trees which ahve been so much a part of most landscape images over the last few months. Bring on the gree shoots of spring.
