Viaduct

One from the weekend, as today will be busy.

Healey Dell Viaduct, something that has been part of my life since chidhood. An amazing feat of Victorian Engineering, spanning the River Spodden to the north of Rochdale.

Rochdale one side, Whitworth the other.

Taller than the Ribblehead Viaduct, and the Town Hall, it always amazes.

Closed in 1967 - last train across was a steam train with 4 brake wagons with its passengers dressed up in army fatigues.
