Sun bath
We head up towards the trig point. We don’t make it, but on the way we stop off twice to rest our legs and absorb the sun.
First stop is at the beginning of the forest above the pheasant pens. At the gate, in the dilapidated hides, there are a pair of plastic chairs, dry but dirty, suitable for testing your butt.
Next stop is at the end of step ascent out of the forestry. There’s a panoramic view of the Pentlands and the Tarth valley.
Rabbit stew and dumplings for tea.
