Female Cardinal...

...in the snow. It started snowing during the night and continued almost until noon, but it was coming down so lightly that we only ended up with about an inch/inch and a half on the ground. I was sitting on the couch, having a cup of coffee, when I looked up and saw both the male and female together inside the feeder box, so I ran to get my camera--they looked so pretty with the snow in the background--and returned just in time to see at least 6 starlings going after them to get them out of the box. The female cardinal left right away, but the male wouldn't leave until 3 of the starlings ganged up on him. I waited and waited for the cardinals to come back, and finally the female landed on the shepherds' hook and I got this one shot before she flew off. I've seen photos of cardinals in the snow but I've never managed to get one myself, so I was happy. (though I'd have been even HAPPIER had I gotten one of them both together!)  :)
