Cabaret
Mono Monday one word description: Cabaret
Last week I commented that the British Government seemed to be saying a lot of the right things about the war in Ukraine but it wasn’t clear what we were actually doing. Much reporting this morning focussed on the 50 visas that have been granted under a scheme for refugees with family links to come to the UK, BBC News, which doesn’t seem to be the greatest response given how many people are being looked after elsewhere. I continue to believe that we will do the right thing. In other news, the BBC is also reporting that Petrol at fresh record as oil and gas prices soar as a result of the war. Our reliance on Russia for our energy needs has been thrown into the spotlight. As always lots of conflicting opinions from ‘go green faster’ to ‘new oil rigs in the North Sea’. Personally, I think a solar roof should be mandatory on all houses within 15 years (centrally funded). It would help reduce the entire nation’s dependence on fossil fuels.
We had re-heated Chinese takeaway this evening as we had to be out the door by 8pm. We were off to see La Voix at The Crazy Coqs. I first became aware of La Voix at another Crazy Coqs event in February 2020, just before the lockdowns began, and have been following the comedy throughout the lockdowns. PY booked some tickets for tonight’s late show. It was very funny and, probably, just what was needed to laugh when the world around is falling apart.
I'm using my first extra photo today. On the way to the cabaret this evening, we walked from Waterloo and past the Royal Festival Hall which is lit up in the colours of the Ukraine flag as a reminder that there is more to the world than our own lives. #istandwithukraine
