National Monument of Scotland

or “Edinburgh’s Disgrace” was started in 1826 as a memorial to the Scottish soldiers and sailors who died in the Napoleonic Wars. It is modelled on the Parthenon in Athens, but the money ran out in 1829 and it was never finished. I quite like it as it is  - and the tourists seem to like it too!

Calton Hill was a good place to blow some cobwebs away and escape the office for a while at lunchtime. More blue skies.
