Upgraded infrastrucrure.  Fibre was pushed out to the outlying parts of the village and we have all been subjected to regular mailings and 'offers' to convert us to fibre broadband.  But we know something the high speed broadband marketing people don't know:  the new fibre cables are strung from poles that have not all been secured in the ground and have been slung right through trees in many places where they are battered every time the wind gets up. The amount of time Openreach spends in the village reworking and patching up this crumby infrastructure is a good advertisement for avoiding the broadband marketeers' blandishments.
