Sandstone

My camera was back from the repairers and so off to Carlisle I went to pick it up and spend some time around the Carlisle area.  This is the gatehouse of Wetheral Priory.  It is the only building left of a monastery.  Wetheral is somewhere I haven't been to except to the the Animal Refuge, outside the village, from where we got our two cats.  The village  has many buildings of red sandstone, of which this gatehouse is one of them.  You can go into the building and climb the spiral staircase to the top, but you can't go on to the roof.  It was a cloudy day but I had a walk through Wetheral Woods and along the River Eden.  Sorry about the later post today.
