Surprise, surprise?

What on earth is the Statue of Liberty doing gracing a traffic island opposite an enormous out of town shopping area and next to a cheap chain hotel on the main road out of town in Colmar, Alsace?
You may well ask, we did too!
Answer, the man who designed said statue was lived in Colmar.
Vive good old Auguste Bartholdi, who actually sounds more Italian than local, but never mind that, the French say he was French!
