The end of an era

Today was my last day as a hygienist.

It’s felt a bit surreal, but we all managed to keep our composure until 5.30pm.

I’m doubtful I will miss the job, but I will miss the girls. What was meant to be 6 months of maternity cover turned into an 8 year stint, so over that time, we’ve become really good friends.

I went to say thank you and all the best to my boss but he wanted his two pennies worth first. Telling me how he thought I was making a huge mistake and that the grass isn’t always greener! He even wrote ‘you’ll be back’ in my leaving card.
I told him it was my mistake to make and no matter the colour of the grass, it was too good an opportunity to turn down and left it at that.
His comments left me feeling that I’ve 100% made the right decision!

So although it’s the end of this chapter, tomorrow marks the start of a completely new book. :-)
