Tobacco Warehouse - Stanley Dock
This disused tobacco warehouse is the largest brick built warehouse in the world and has a fascinating history. It was opened in 1901 and is a grade II listed building with a net floor area of 1.6 million square feet. It was built next to Stanley Dock and the extra shows how access to the dock was reached from the RIver Mersey with this rising bridge. The other end of the dock opens up to the canal and also links with the railway. It has been derelict for many years but is now part of a huge renovation of the area and some very swish and expensive apartments are being created in it.
