A bit of topiary

I used to have two bay leaf standards, one each side of my front door. They eventually died after about 20 years and I bought some box plants, which got box blight. My daughter said how lovely it would be to replace them, so I am on a mission to find something. These two are miniature privet standards. They have sweet smelling flowers in the summer and dark berries in the winter. Could be a possibility.
