The Old Leaves....

The thumbnail  shows the location of the remaining old leaves from last year.   The color is dark green, just waiting for the new buds to push the old, dead stem off of  the petiole.  The other light green is the new leaves that are growing larger and beginning to produce sugars for the growing season.     I love to to look up and see the color contrast, to be reminded of the wonder and beauty of nature.
