Down she comes

Our apple trees have suffered from fire blight which is a bacterial infection. Dan is doing some very severe pruning on some trees but this one right next to the back deck was not worth keeping. It makes me sad but we will burn the wood next winter. There will also be shoots that come up that we will encourage. Eventually Dan will graft some apple varieties on the shoots and hopefully we will have apples. It will take me a while to get used to the open view now when I come up the steps. I'll miss the blossoms in the spring.
