Luminous lichen.
A damp and misty walk today with Wendles56. We headed through the woods to the hamlet of Marley, a nice walk but often a bit wet under foot. With yesterday's rain and the continuing melting of snow it lived up to expectations but one of the few good things about the dampness is the profusion of moss and lichen. The Yorkshire sandstone walls seem to be the ideal medium for them. This colourful version was spotted by Wendy and came out better than I expected with my little camera.
We had another surprise at about the same place. This wood is frequented by deer usually in groups but this one was on her own and keeping a steady eye on us.
Returning via Ravenroyd stables there were lots of horses, I liked this one who looked to be very keen to get to the daffodils over the wall.
It was raining quite a bit as we headed back but a bowl of broccoli and cheese soup at Lady B's was just the ticket and half of the village 'mums' from our children's primary school days seemed to be in there with either grandchildren and dogs. A great meeting place.
