Rolling Bridge
I had a meeting with a client in Paddington today, ahead of tonight''s Exhibition News Awards at the Lancaster London hotel.
I took the opportunity to wander down to Paddington Basin to see the rolling bridge designed by Thomas Heatherwick (who also designed the London 2012 Olympic Cauldron, amongst many other projects).
The bridge retracts by means of a series of pistons which effectively shorten the span of the handrail, resulting in the entire bridge curling into a wagon-wheel like structure which site on one bank of the canal.
