Watery road sign

Here's the "road' sign on the River Avon at Stratford showing the distances via the canal system to various places across the country. I love the inclusion of the number of locks to negotiate and journey time, as well as the distance to travel. The canal system was the motorway system of the 18th and 19th century before the advent of the internal combustion engine brought cars and tarmac to the fore. The other photo is a general view of the bridge across the Avon taken from the terrace of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. I don't know the collective noun for swans but there were a lot of them.
