Friends & Cake

We had a visit from some friends this morning. They are staying in Holt for a long weekend so of course we invited them round for morning coffee.

This was a great excuse to bake a cake, this one is a maple syrup and caramelised pecan cake (Delia Smith).  Needless to say there is none left now!  I don't normally photograph the cakes that I bake but our local camera club is running a project called 'The Food Chain' and our March challenge is to photograph some food at home.  I walked into town this afternoon and bought some additional goodies food items to photograph which I'll tackle tomorrow.  Photographing food beautifully looks so easy when one browses the Waitrose food magazine but it's actually harder than they make it look.
