Arbour seat

Went for a walk with Annie and Betty at mount edgecumbe today hoping to have coffee and cake at the orangery only to find that the park was closed due to high winds!

We walked up to the top car park where they had loos and then up through the deer park and across to the sea via Maker church graveyard where Annie’s grandfather is buried. There was indeed a high wind but fun to spread your arms and lean into it either backwards or forwards! Dogs were supposed to be on leadsbut Betty is a sheepdog who ignores sheep.

We struck the coast with beautiful wild views across the sea between Kingsand and Fort Picklecombeand walked back roind the coast stopping off at this little arbour which was just above fort picklecombe!

We eventually got back to the edgecumbe arms about 14.00 andannie had a ping of beer and I had a half of cloudy cider and we had a bowl of ultra delicious fat chips and then a Cornish cream tea each having half a plain scone and half a fruit scone with jam and lashings of clotted cream!

We got the penultimate ferry back to Plymouth! Watching the ferry coming in was a bit alarming as it was being tossed around by the wind and the waves. The last ferry is normally at 18.00 but they were closing at 16.00! We made it safely!

There were huge strands of daffodils and narcissi and more of the camellias were in bloom. We went across at the right time as we managed a walk with no rain until we were getting on the ferry on the way back! I’m
