Bad Start….

….To the day, a call early on in the morning to let me know that another friend, again a member of Falmouth Royal Naval Association had “Crossed The Bar” was not the way I envisaged the day starting.
‘Pip’ Aldridge was a long time member of our Association, rarely missed a meeting and was a good guy to be around. He liked the occasional tot of rum and always contributed to the Branch. Unlike Tony yesterday Pip’s passing was completely unexpected, he seemed in good health when I saw him last week.

Paddy & Mick set off in light breezes for their walk but by the time we reached Cliff Road it was “blowing a hooligan” but still dry. We had a bit of everything today, pavement, fields by Pendennis Castle, Gyllyngvase Beach, Boscawen Fields and by the time we reached home we had covered five miles.

Settled down for the rugby and just as it started Mrs S asked who I thought might win. I suggested that the team that kept the most players on the pitch might do it. Then a red card after less than a minute and a half brought out the best in the English team and showed that Ireland are nowhere near the team they thought they were, the score flattered them.

A bit of gratuitous violence by way of a film to finish Saturday.
Testing tomorrow to see how we are getting on.

Todays photo, Gyllyngvase Beach with 50mph winds.
